The A3 was first launched in 1996 and received a major facelift in 2003. It is quite tricky to introduce a special edition version of a 13 year old model, that will have the neighbours looking at it, wanting to sit in it and take photographs but Audi have achieved this. The same happened in the local supermarket car park; it was as if people had never seen an A3 before.

Mazda chose Norway for the first drive of their Hydrogen powered vehicles. The Hynor project (a joint venture between the Norwegian government and Statoil) has created a ‘hydrogen highway’ from Stavanger to Oslo, enabling this compressed gas to be distributed at locations in Norway and create an alternative fuel.

This year, the iconic MX-5 sports car marks its 20thanniversary. To celebrate its birthday, it has had a number of styling changes including a new larger front grille. The interior has also received a small amount of improvements but after all this time on the market, it is very difficult for the manufacturer to continually make improvements. This car already has a good following and has had for many years so it would be changes for changes sake. However, the most important addition to the range is the introduction of an automatic gearbox for the first time in its twenty year history for the UK market.

Mazda i-STOP is their unique name and branding for a stop/start system. However, this system does not just have stop/start to help reduce Co2 emissions and improve fuel consumption; it also has many other systems on the car to aid i-STOP. The car we mainly drove in Germany was the four door Saloon but i-STOP is also available on the more popular five door Hatchback. The Saloon has never been a particularly good seller in the UK, as most people who buy a C sector car generally want the practicality of the Hatchback. However, the four door is a really good looking car with some great design lines and would be for me, a difficult decision on which one to buy. Would I prefer style or convenience?

It is very difficult to achieve less than 55mpg from the Passat BlueMotion 2 and very easy to achieve over 60mpg; quite remarkable for a car of this size. On a normal motorway journey at 70mph, the car will easily achieve over 63mpg without any effort. So how do Volkswagen manage this?

I am a governor at the local first school in Highburton, Huddersfield and we are encouraged by the head teacher and the government to take a more active role in school. This means more visits to help with lessons so that we understand what is going on in school and how the children coping and learning.
As an experiment I took in the Audi A5 Cabriolet this week to show class 5 (aged 10 years) and asked them to write about it. I showed them around the car in the playground, gave them some advice along with some product knowledge and then left them with their notes to compile an accurate description of the A5 on the school computers. All the children did exceptionally well but here are the two examples that I thought were the most descriptive and very impressive.
