CAP New Vehicle Data reveals January 2007 surge in new car models
JANUARY 2007 was the busiest month for new car model and variant introductions for three years, according to Britain’s most comprehensive database of new vehicle pricing and technical information.
According to CAP New Vehicle Data 443 new cars became available to buyers in the first four weeks of the year.
That is a 33 per cent increase on the new car market activity of January last year.
In the light commercials market new vehicle introductions were also at a proportionately high level, with 81 new vans added to the CAP NVD database.
The new car surge was led by BMW which introduced 232 new model variants, including facelifted 5-Series, 1-Series and the new hard top 3-Series convertible – representing nearly 53 per cent of the total.
Mercedes-Benz followed, introducing 43 new model variants, with Ford in third place on 42 new cars.
CAP New Vehicle Data reveals January 2007 to be the busiest month for new model introductions since February 2004 when 452 newly available cars were entered onto the database.
CAP New Vehicle Data supplies top flight operators in the automotive retail, contract hire and leasing sectors with all relevant pricing and technical information for 9,000 current new cars and light commercial vehicles, plus full details on a total of almost 35,000 pre-current vehicles.
Nothing illustrates the dynamism of Britain’s new car and van market more powerfully than the rate of change in the CAP New Vehicle Data database.
