CHEVROLET – Has reduced the prices on three models by up to £2,375. The three models are the Kalos 1.4 SX which has been reduced from £9,370 to £6,995, the Matiz 1.0 SE reduced from £6,995 to £5,995 and the Lacetti 1.6 SX reduced by £2,120 to £9,295. These offers last from 11th September until 30th September.
HONDA – Has confirmed the car that has been previously been referred to as the ‘global hybrid’ is to be called the Honda Insight, a name that has been revived from the 1999 Hybrid Coupe. It is expected that the Insight, which is a petrol/electric car will go on sale in Europe in early 2009.
MAZDA – The Kiyora concept car will make its debut at this years Paris motor show. The Kiyora is a lightweight, next generation urban compact car.
SKODA – Has confirmed that the Superb Estate will go on sale in 2010.
TOYOTA – Has released more photographs of the iQ. Up until now, only static images have been available but driving and moving shots are now on their website.
Also released are photographs of the new Avensis and it will have its public debut at the Paris motor show next month.
VOLKSWAGEN – Has announced their so called ‘Twin Drive’ will not be available until 2015. Twin Drive uses a combination of electric motors and a carburetion engine. They say the car will be able to cover longer distances on electric power only.
A new Golf Plus will be launched in March 2009. The Golf Estate is to get the front end of the all new Golf three and five door in late summer 2009.
VOLVO – Has announced a new range of vehicles called DRIVe which will be available on C30, S40 and V50. The DRIVe vehicles will have Co2 figures under 120g/km. Production starts in November with first UK deliveries due in January 2009. Volvo expect to sell around 20,000 1.6D DRIVe cars in Europe with a price supplement for the DRIVe package costing an estimated 150 to 400 euros depending on the model and market.
