AUDI – Are to debut the new A1 at the Geneva Motor Show next month. This new 3 door compact hatchback will be available with a choice of three engines: a 1.2 litre TFSI 86ps petrol, a 1.4 litre TFSI 122ps petrol and a 1.6 litre TDI 105ps diesel. The A1 will be available to order in May, with first deliveries expected in late 2010. Pricing will be confirmed at a later date.
BENTLEY – Are to open a dealership in Kazakhstan. The new dealership is to be established in the city of Almaty and operated by Premier Auto LLC, which is part of Premier Metro Group. The new dealership is scheduled to open in mid 2010.
BMW – Has announced design changes to the X5, along with engine additions. Three new engines will be launched: the xDrive 30d, xDrive 40d (replacing the xDrive 35d) and the xDrive 50i (replacing the xDrive 48i). Design changes will consist of a revised front bumper, matt aluminium look lower scuff plates and new xenon headlights. Prices are expected to start from £43,980 on the road. The new X5 will go on sale from 5th June 2010.
NISSAN – Will unveil the Juke, the new mini cross-over later today in Paris. More about this new car in next week’s edition.
SUZUKI – Has announced that a Swift concept car with a plug-in hybrid system will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month. It is designed to be driven primarily on electric power, with a 660cc petrol engine to be used as back-up.
TOYOTA – Announced this week that any third generation Prius model built before 27th January 2010 is to be recalled due to reports of inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady braking on bumpy or slick road surfaces. The recall will involve a software upgrade in the anti-locking braking system. Over 8,500 cars are thought to be affected in the UK.
VOLKSWAGEN – Has announced the addition of Bluemotion and the GTI within the Polo range. The Polo Bluemotion will be available from April and is expected to be priced starting at £14,500 on the road. The Polo GTI should be available in July, with a starting price of £18,000 on the road.
VOLVO – Has announced that the new S60 will make its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
