ALFA ROMEO – A new entry level trim and engine has been introduced to the MiTo range. The new Junior version will have a new 1.4 litre 78bhp petrol engine and will be priced at £10,995 on the road. The 1.4 engine will only be available on the Junior model.
AUDI – Two new engines are available to order in the Q5 range. These are the 2.0 litre TFSI 180ps, priced from £27,995 and the 2.0 TDI 143ps, priced from £28,245.
Audi are now only selecting leather from bulls rather than cows to achieve the required upholstery standards for seating and trims. Hides from cows are too small and less homogenous. The Audi ‘nose team’ ensures that the hides smell nice once they are installed into each vehicle.
Prices have been released for the S5 quattro Cabriolet, starting from £42,245. It is powered by a V6 TFSI petrol engine that produces 333ps, goes from 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds, and has a combined fuel consumption figure of 29.1mpg. The CO2 emissions output is 224g/km.
HONDA – Has announced a new model introduction to the Civic range. The Civic 1.4 i-VTEC Si will cost £15,625 for the 6 speed manual and £16,425 for the i-Shift.
KIA – The all new 7 seat Sorento will make its debut at this years Frankfurt motor show in September. It will measure 4,685mm in length and Kia say it expects the most popular choice in engine will be the new 2.2 litre diesel.
MAZDA – Has announced that they will exhibit the new CX-7 at next month’s Frankfurt international motor show.
TOYOTA – Has introduced the 2.2 D-CAT 150 diesel engine to the Verso range. The new engine is coupled to a 6 speed automatic gearbox, its CO2 emissions are 178g/km and the official combined fuel consumption figure is 41.5 mpg. Prices for the seven seat Verso 2.2 are £20,835 for the TR and £22,265 for the T Spirit.
VOLKSWAGEN – Prices have been announced for the new Polo which goes on sale on 16th October. Prices start from £10,035 for the Polo S 1.2 litre 60ps five door and go up to £14,910 for the 1.6 TDI SEL five door. The most popular model is expected to be the 1.2 SE 70ps which will cost £11,995 and have CO2 emissions of 128g/km. The three door Polo will be available from December.
VOLVO – Following its challenge to the Mayor of London, Volvo Car UK has been successful in its bid to review the current congestion charge alternative fuel exemption that Volvo believes unfairly biases hybrid cars over other low emitting vehicles. Transport for London will report its recommendations by the end of the year.
