AUDI – Are to introduce a TDIe into the A4 range. The TDIe has a power output of 136ps, a 0-62mph time of 9.5 seconds, combined fuel consumption of 61mpg and CO2 emissions of 120g/km. Prices start from £23,340.
JAGUAR – Unveiled the all new XJ last week in London. The new car is expected to be in showrooms from early next year with prices starting from £52,500 on the road for the standard wheelbase 3.0 litre V6 diesel. The long wheelbase models will cost an additional £3,000. Prices go up to £88,000 for the 5.0 Litre supercharged Supersport long wheelbase.
KIA – Has announced some sheet metal changes to the Ceed range and the introduction of the ISG (intelligent stop/go) system which will be available later this year. The ISG system will reduce CO2 emissions down to 110g/km.
MINI – Has announced the introduction of a lead-in Mini model called the Mini First. The power output for the First is 75hp, so it is lower than the Mini One’s output of 95hp. The First is offered with a greatly reduced option programme. Steel wheels are fitted with full size hubcaps and air conditioning is available at £665. The price of the Mini First is £10,950 on the road and first deliveries are due in early August.
PEUGEOT – Has announced that the 308 based RCZ Compact 2+2 Coupe will go on sale in spring 2010. The RCZ will be the first car not to use the zero or double zero numbering system. It is believed that the new car will just be badged as the RCZ and not the 308 RCZ, which was the original concept car’s name. The new Coupe will make its debut at this year’s Frankfurt motor show in September.
From immediate effect, the 807 range is to change to two badge levels: S and Norwest.
VAUXHALL – Has confirmed that the new Astra, which is due later this year, has a new chassis, a longer wheelbase (extended by 71mm) and the track is also wider. FlexRide adaptive suspension will be offered on some models and will offer the driver a choice of dynamic settings. GM say the core body structure, which is stiffer than the outgoing car, further enhances the new Astra’s ride and handling, whilst also reducing noise and vibration inside the car.
Prices have been confirmed for the new Insignia VXR. It is powered by a 2.8 litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine that produces 325ps. It goes from 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds and has an adaptive 4x4 system. Prices start from £30,995.
