The all new Fiesta is a brilliant little car and appears to be winning award after award. The reason for this success is simple: it looks good, is reasonable value for money and has a good level of equipment. It also appeals to all ages, both male and female. It is another great model from Ford and has come at just the right time for them.
The 1.25 (1,242cc) Duratec 16V petrol engine produces 82 ps and goes from 0-62mph in 13.3 seconds. The official combined fuel consumption figure is 49.8mpg, so it is economical for a petrol engine. It is quiet and seemed to have enough power in any condition; up hills, on the motorway, around town and when pulling away at traffic lights. The Co2 emissions figure is 133g/km.
The interior quality is average but not brilliant. The car we had on test had a loose piece of plastic on the dashboard which should have been spotted at the factory or on its pre-delivery inspection. However, other than one small flaw, the rest of the interior all fitted together well.
The Style has plenty of standard equipment but the Style + has air conditioning as standard over the Style model. It also has as standard: Quickclear windscreen, electric windows, CD player with steering wheel controls, plenty of airbags, driver’s seat height adjust and reach and rake steering column.
The Fiesta we had on test was probably the worst colour available on any car from any manufacturer. It is called Cedar Blur and is a non-metallic dark blue. Similar colours from any manufacturer in the past were known as ‘Doom Blue’ and this one is just as bad. The cost of the car we tested is £11,695 with the five door version priced at £300 more.
