LAND ROVER – The UK government has confirmed that a grant offer of up to £27 million will be made available to Land Rover to go towards the overall £400 million cost of a project to produce an all new model. A final decision is due to go ahead on the project at the Land Rover Halewood plant on Merseyside later this year, but it is expected that the new model will be based on the LRX concept vehicle which was first shown at the Detroit motor show last year.
PEUGEOT – Has announced the introduction of the 308 Coupe Cabriolet. It will be available with a choice of the following engines and trims: 1.6 VTi 120 petrol (SE and Sport), 1.6 THP 150 petrol (SE and GT), 1.6 HDi 110 diesel (SE and Sport) and 2.0 HDi 140 diesel (SE and GT). There will also be a special edition 1.6 THP 150 GT 100 version. Prices start from £19,495 for the 1.6 VTi 120 petrol Sport and go up to £24,295 for the 2.0 HDi 140 diesel GT. The new 308 Coupe Cabriolet is expected to go on sale 1st June 2009.
PORSCHE – Has confirmed pricing on the forthcoming Panamera Gran Turismo model. Prices will start from £72,266 for the Panamera S, £77,269 for the Panamera 4S and £95,298 for the top of the range Panamera Turbo.
VAUXHALL – Has announced the introduction of a new 1.7 CDTi 110 ecoFLEX diesel engine in the Zafira range which is available on Life, Exclusiv, Design and Elite trim levels. The ecoFLEX engine has Co2 emissions of 139 g/km and a combined fuel consumption figure of 53.3 mpg. Prices start at £17,310 for the Exclusiv ecoFLEX and it is expected to go on sale 1st April 2009.
Also announced is the introduction of the new Insignia 2.0 CDTi ecoFlex diesel engine available on S, Exclusiv, SE and Elite trim levels with around a 10% reduction in Co2 emissions. Prices will start from £19,600 and production is expected to commence in May 2009. A new 1.6T engine is expected to be introduced into the Insignia range also, with production starting in May 2009. The 1.6T will be available across all trim levels and prices will start at £18,125.
VOLKSWAGEN – The new Golf has received a maximum 5 star Euro NCAP rating during recent crash testing.
