How do CAP get their Used values?
CAP’s industry benchmark Used Values’ guide ‘Black Book’ is based on a proven pricing model incorporating evidence, research, analysis and motor industry expertise.
A dedicated Research team ensure a constant supply of up to date information, including transaction data, market sentiment and be-spoke specialist research.
CAP receives sold data from a variety of sectors across the motor industry, including, Manufacturers, Contract Hire and leasing, Rental Operators, Dealers, Remarketing specialists and Auctions. These transactions can approach nearly one million per year (on cars alone), which represents approximately 12% of all Great Britain Used Car Sales, as quantified by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders
Survey and anecdotal information is collected from various sectors including Dealers, Fleet operators, Remarketing Businesses and Daily Rental Businesses, with the aim of assessing the current and short-term future market conditions.
Helping interpret and utilise all this evidence is the Analysis and Audit team who help ensure the data is robust through rigorous quality control measures, as well as collating the data and identifying any trends or issues that may directly affect current pricing.
A pricing team, incorporating researchers, analysts and industry experts with a wealth of trade experience, meet monthly to review this evidence, along with a forecast of the short-term future to ensure the next month’s Black Book edition best reflects that month’s market.
